ABOUT THIS WINE
Hurluberlu is a natural red wine from Sébastien David, a winemaker deeply rooted in the Loire Valley's Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation, with a family history in winemaking dating back to 1634. The wine is made from 100% Cabernet Franc, grown using organic and biodynamic principles. Its classification as Vin de France often reflects its natural winemaking style, which may not adhere to all AOC regulations. The 2024 vintage is a special cuvée, created by blending grapes from various parcels, including very old vines, due to challenging weather conditions. The name 'Hurluberlu' itself translates to 'eccentric' or 'scatterbrain,' hinting at the wine's unconventional and spirited character, and it has garnered a dedicated following for its unique approach and bottle design.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Hurluberlu is crafted using 100% Cabernet Franc grapes, harvested by hand from vineyards managed with organic and biodynamic practices. The winemaking process emphasizes minimal intervention. Key techniques include carbonic maceration for approximately 25 days, utilizing indigenous yeasts for fermentation in concrete tanks. Notably, no sulfur is added during the winemaking process; instead, carbon dioxide is employed for protection against oxidation. The wine is then aged for 6 to 9 months in concrete tanks before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2024 vintage is a special cuvée, a blend of grapes from various estate parcels, including very old vines, due to challenging weather conditions that year.
