ABOUT THIS WINE
Royal Tokaji was founded in 1990 by renowned British wine historian Hugh Johnson and a group of visionaries to restore the historical fame of Tokaj after decades of state-controlled Soviet rule. Tokaji Aszú is one of the world's most historic sweet wines, famously dubbed by King Louis XIV as 'the Wine of Kings, and the King of Wines.' Sourced from Royal Tokaji's legendary classed growth estates and trusted local growers in the volcanic Mád basin, this wine represents the pinnacle of traditional Hungarian sweet winemaking.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process begins with the meticulous hand-harvesting of botrytised Aszú berries in multiple passes through the vineyards. These shriveled berries are macerated in actively fermenting must for 48 hours to extract sugars, acids, and complex botrytis aromas. After a gentle pressing, the slow fermentation is completed in Hungarian Zemplén oak casks using native yeasts. The wine is then aged for over two years in traditional, high-humidity underground cellars in 300-liter and 500-liter second- and third-fill casks.
