ABOUT THIS WINE
7 Fuentes is a red wine from the D.O. Valle de la Orotava in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, produced by Suertes del Marqués. The wine is primarily made from Listán Negro grapes, with a small addition of Tintilla or Castellana Negra. The name '7 Fuentes' refers to the origin village of the grapes. Suertes del Marqués is a family estate dedicated to organic and low-intervention winemaking, focusing on expressing the unique volcanic terroir of Tenerife and its endemic grape varieties. The vines are grown at altitudes ranging from 250 to 800 meters on volcanic soils, with some vines being over 100 years old and trained using the traditional 'cordón trenzado' system. The 2019 vintage is described as confident and drinking well.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
7 Fuentes is produced using grapes from hand-harvested vineyards. Fermentation occurs with native yeasts in concrete tanks, with a portion of whole bunches included. The wine then undergoes a 9-month aging period, with 60% in concrete and 40% in 500-liter neutral French oak barrels. The producer, Suertes del Marqués, emphasizes organic farming and low-intervention winemaking techniques to showcase the volcanic terroir of Tenerife.
