ABOUT THIS WINE
Emphase by Domaine Antoine Lienhardt is a 2023 Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation in Burgundy, France. This wine is the estate's flagship cuvée, first produced in 2016 to showcase the potential of the Comblanchien terroir. It is a blend sourced from the domaine's oldest and finest parcels, with vines ranging from 60 to 90 years old. The Lienhardt family, now in its fourth generation, is dedicated to organic and biodynamic farming, employing minimal intervention winemaking techniques. The vineyards are situated around Comblanchien on diverse soils, at altitudes between 250-300 meters. The estate is Ecocert certified organic and uses biodynamic principles, including horse plowing. The 'Emphase' is a deliberate statement wine, representing the best of the estate's old vines and the unique character of its origin.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2023 Emphase is produced using 100% whole clusters, with a 'natural' winemaking approach that involves minimal additives and very little sulfur, typically only a small amount at bottling. The wine undergoes gentle maceration to avoid excessive extraction. Aging lasts for about 14 months, with 70% of the wine maturing in old oak barrels (1-6 years old), 15% in sandstone jars, and 15% in concrete eggs. The domaine intentionally avoids new oak to maintain the purity of the fruit. The wine is not fined or filtered before bottling.
