ABOUT THIS WINE
Abbadia Ardenga Brunello di Montalcino 2017 is a testament to the historical significance and unique terroir of its origin. The estate, with roots tracing back to the 15th-century Piccolomini family, has a long-standing tradition in winemaking, recognized early on with an award in 1902. Today, under the management of the Ciacci family, Abbadia Ardenga upholds a philosophy of environmental respect in its vineyard practices. Located in Montalcino, Tuscany, the estate's vineyards are situated on the Sienese slope, characterized by clayey soil rich in limestone and tufaceous rock. This specific environment is crucial for cultivating Sangiovese Grosso, the sole grape variety used for Brunello di Montalcino, contributing to the wine's distinctive profile.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Abbadia Ardenga Brunello di Montalcino 2017 begins with hand-harvested Sangiovese Grosso grapes in early October. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks for 16-18 days under controlled temperatures. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for a minimum of 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels. It then rests for 12 months in stainless steel tanks before undergoing a final 12 months of bottle aging prior to release. This multi-stage aging process is designed to develop the wine's structure and complexity.
