ABOUT THIS WINE
The Halkias Amber Assyrtiko 2022 is a 100% Assyrtiko wine from the PGI Corinth appellation in Nemea, Peloponnese, Greece. It is produced by Halkias Winery, run by winemaker Anna Halkia, who returned to her family's vineyards with a commitment to organic and natural winemaking. This wine is distinctive as it showcases the Assyrtiko grape, typically associated with Santorini, grown on the Greek mainland. The vinification involves skin contact, classifying it as an orange wine, and utilizes organic farming and natural winemaking methods. The vineyards are planted on clay and limestone soils at an altitude of 280 meters.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Halkias Amber Assyrtiko 2022 is produced from 100% Assyrtiko grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested early in the morning. Vinification involves a 5-day maceration with skin contact, followed by 13-15 days of wild fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 14-16°C, utilizing ambient yeasts. After fermentation, the wine rests for three months in stainless steel tanks with its fine lees. The wine is bottled with low sulfites (30 mg/L total). Production volume for this wine is 1,800 liters.
