ABOUT THIS WINE
Amicale is produced by Cantine di Ora, an estate brand of Schenk Italian Wineries located in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. The wine represents a modern, highly accessible interpretation of the historic Veronese 'appassimento' tradition. Originally released under the commercially successful name 'Amicone', the wine was legally challenged by the regional Amarone consortium, who argued the name and style were too close to their protected designation. Consequently, Schenk renamed the wine 'Amicale' (meaning 'friendly'), maintaining the exact same award-winning recipe and accessible pricing that earned it the reputation of an 'Amarone killer' among value-seeking wine enthusiasts.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Amicale combines two distinct methods to achieve its signature concentration. A portion of the Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes is left on the vines for late harvesting (sovramaturazione) in early October. The remaining hand-selected grapes undergo a traditional 'appassimento' process, drying in temperature and humidity-controlled rooms for up to 120 days to dehydrate and concentrate sugars. After separate fermentations in stainless steel tanks, the final blend is created. A portion of the wine is then aged for 12 months in oak tonneaux to develop complexity, while the rest remains in stainless steel to preserve fresh fruit character.
