ABOUT THIS WINE
The Amphora 2020 is a dry white wine from Earl Domaine de Noire, produced in the AOC Chinon Blanc appellation of the Loire Valley. Crafted from 100% Chenin Blanc, this wine is distinguished by its aging process in Italian terracotta amphorae, a method that respects ancient winemaking traditions. Domaine de Noiré, founded in 2001, is dedicated to organic and biodynamic viticulture, with winemaker Jean-Max Manceau focusing on expressing the unique character of the Chinon terroir and its signature grape, Chenin Blanc. The estate's vineyards are situated between Chinon and Cravant, on gravel terraces with clay subsoils, and feature vines aged between 35 and 50 years.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Amphora 2020 is produced from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes grown in estate vineyards. Viticulture is managed under certified organic and biodynamic principles, with vines aged 35 to 50 years and yields kept low at 40 hl/ha. The grapes are hand-harvested. Vinification involves fermentation on indigenous yeasts in Italian terracotta amphorae. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes six months of aging on its fine lees, also within the amphorae. This process emphasizes a natural approach to winemaking, utilizing ancient vessels to preserve the purity of the fruit and terroir.
