ABOUT THIS WINE
Bénédicte and Stéphane Tissot's estate in Montigny-lès-Arsures is a benchmark of biodynamic viticulture in the Jura. Stéphane took over the family domaine in the 1990s, transitioning it to organic and Demeter-certified biodynamic farming. Unlike the traditional oxidative style of the region, Tissot is celebrated for precise, topped-up (ouillé) wines that showcase pure terroir. The 'Rose Massale' cuvée is a fascinating story of genetic preservation. Stéphane discovered a rare, pink-skinned mutation of Chardonnay in his vineyards. Through selection massale, he propagated these vines across five of his finest parcels, creating a singular, highly sought-after white wine. The 2024 vintage was marked by severe spring frosts and mildew in Jura, making this micro-cuvée an incredibly rare and resilient triumph.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested from five distinct parcels featuring diverse Jura soils, including Bajocian limestone scree, Lias marls, and gryphite limestone. In the cellar, fermentation begins spontaneously using only indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation and is aged on its fine lees in 228-liter French oak barrels (fûts de chêne) for 12 to 24 months, with only about 10% new oak to preserve the mineral tension. To maintain its natural purity, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur additions.
