ABOUT THIS WINE
Cuentaviñas is a boutique project founded by fifth-generation winemaker Eduardo Eguren and his wife Carlota González in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Rioja Alta. The name Cuentaviñas, meaning 'storyteller of vines,' reflects their philosophy of letting each single-plot wine narrate the unique geological and historical story of its ancestral vineyard. Arriscado, meaning 'rocky' or 'rugged,' is the estate's sole white wine. It is sourced from Finca El Llano, a north-facing parcel planted in 1966 at 500 meters elevation. The vineyard is characterized by its complex, limestone- and gypsum-rich soils, which impart a distinct mineral tension to the wine.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Arriscado is designed to preserve the crystalline acidity and mineral tension of the old-vine fruit. Following a rigorous manual selection, the whole clusters undergo a cold skin maceration for ten hours. After a gentle pressing, only the pristine free-run juice is selected for spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts. Fermentation and subsequent aging take place in 1,000-liter upright French oak vats. Malolactic fermentation is strictly blocked to maintain the wine's natural freshness. The wine is aged on its fine lees for 12 to 16 months in the same oak vats before bottling.
