ABOUT THIS WINE
Artífice Tinto is crafted by Borja Pérez, a leading figure in the dynamic 'New Wave' of Canary Islands winemaking. Based in Tenerife, Pérez transitioned from a career as a racing mechanic and firefighter to revitalize his family's multi-generational winemaking heritage. The 'Artífice' (meaning artisan or craftsman) range serves as a tribute to the local growers of the Ycoden-Daute-Isora appellation, blending fruit from tiny, ancient plots tended by traditional farmers. Grown on dramatic volcanic slopes under the cooling influence of Atlantic trade winds, this wine showcases the unique, high-altitude terroir of Tenerife.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Artífice Tinto emphasizes low intervention and respect for the grape's origin. Hand-harvested Listán Negro grapes from 50-year-old vines undergo strict selection. Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel and concrete vats, utilizing 100% indigenous yeasts with a partial inclusion of whole clusters and stems to add structure and peppery complexity. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in concrete vats, large oak foudres, and seasoned 228-liter French oak barrels. No sulfur dioxide is added during crushing, with only minimal sulfites introduced at bottling.
