ABOUT THIS WINE
The Astrolabe Sleepers Vineyard Kekerengu Coast Albariño 2023 originates from the southernmost vineyard in Marlborough, New Zealand, known for its maritime influence. Astrolabe Wines, a family-owned winery founded in 1996 by Simon and Jane Waghorn, is a key producer of Albariño in the region. The Sleepers Vineyard's location on a low river terrace above the Kēkerengū River, with free-draining limestone loam, contributes to the unique character of the grapes. The 2023 vintage is characterized by specific aromatic and flavor profiles. Astrolabe is committed to sustainable winemaking practices.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Astrolabe Sleepers Vineyard Kekerengu Coast Albariño 2023 is produced from hand-picked grapes. The winemaking process involves whole bunch pressing followed by fermentation on grape solids with a selected yeast. Half of the wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel, while the other half undergoes fermentation and aging in old French oak barriques, including malolactic fermentation with barrel stirring. The wine is aged on lees. Astrolabe Wines adheres to certified sustainable vineyard practices and operates as a carbon-neutral winery.
