ABOUT THIS WINE
Lingua Franca was founded in 2015 by Master Sommelier Larry Stone and David Honig in Oregon's Willamette Valley. To craft exceptional, terroir-driven wines, they partnered with legendary Burgundian viticulturist Dominique Lafon and winemaker Thomas Savre. The name 'Avni' translates to 'stone' or 'rock' in Hebrew, paying homage to the rocky, volcanic, and marine sedimentary soils of the region and to founder Larry Stone. This Pinot Noir represents a regional blend, capturing the vibrant energy and complexity of the Willamette Valley's diverse microclimates.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for the Avni Pinot Noir are hand-harvested and carefully sorted. Winemaker Thomas Savre employs traditional Burgundian techniques, utilizing wild or native yeasts for spontaneous fermentation. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, with a carefully restrained use of new oak to preserve the bright fruit character and mineral tension. The process emphasizes minimal intervention to allow the unique characteristics of the Willamette Valley terroir to shine through.
