ABOUT THIS WINE
Ruffino's 'Aziano' Chianti Classico is a vibrant expression of Tuscany's most famous wine region. Founded in Pontassieve in 1877 by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, the estate has long been a benchmark of Tuscan winemaking, even becoming the official supplier to the Italian Royal Family. The name 'Aziano' pays homage to the ancient history of the Chianti Classico region, where winemaking has been documented since at least 1398. This wine is crafted to showcase the pure, unaltered primary profile of the Sangiovese grape, offering an approachable and fresh style that represents the historic heart of Tuscany.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Aziano is specifically designed to preserve the fresh, primary fruit characteristics of the grapes. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards (150 to 300 meters) with clay-loam soils, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation and skin-contact maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for approximately 15 days. Regular pumpovers and délestage are employed to gently extract color and tannins. Crucially, the wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation to soften its acidity, and is aged for 11 months exclusively in stainless steel and concrete tanks, with zero oak contact, followed by 4 months of bottle aging.
