ABOUT THIS WINE
Bacalhôa Moscatel de Setúbal 2021 is a fortified sweet wine from the Península de Setúbal region of Portugal. Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, a prominent and innovative wine producer with a history since 1922, crafts this wine. The Setúbal DOC is one of Portugal's oldest demarcated regions, known for its distinctive Moscatel de Setúbal wines. The region's proximity to the Atlantic and the calcareous hills near Arrábida contribute to the slow maturation of the grapes, preserving their natural acidity. This particular bottling is recognized for its youthful, fruity style, showcasing the intense aromatics characteristic of the Moscatel grape.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The production of Bacalhôa Moscatel de Setúbal 2021 begins with the harvest of fully ripe Moscatel de Setúbal grapes. A short fermentation is followed by fortification with selected wine brandy, a process that arrests fermentation and preserves the wine's sweetness. Post-fermentation maceration with the grape skins occurs over the winter months, allowing for the extraction of color and flavor compounds. The wine is then aged for one year in used oak half-barrels, contributing to its development and integration.
