ABOUT THIS WINE
Established in 1971 by Giuseppe Cortese, this legendary family estate is located in the absolute heart of Barbaresco, directly overlooking the Rabajà hills. Giuseppe was a firm believer in the greatness of Rabajà long before Barbaresco was recognized on the world stage. Today, his son Pier Carlo and son-in-law Gabriele run the estate, upholding a steadfast commitment to traditional, unmanipulated winemaking. In the challenging 2014 vintage, the estate chose not to bottle their flagship Riserva, blending that high-quality, old-vine fruit directly into this standard Rabajà bottling, creating an exceptional value.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Hand-harvested Nebbiolo grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts in traditional stainless steel and old concrete tanks, with approximately 30 days of skin contact. The wine is aged for 20 to 22 months in neutral, large Slavonian oak casks (botti grandi) ranging from 17 to 25 hectolitres, ensuring no dominant wood flavors are imparted. It is then matured for a minimum of 10 months in the bottle prior to release, and bottled unfiltered without animal-derived fining agents.
