ABOUT THIS WINE
The Vietti Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva 2019 is a distinguished red wine from the Barbaresco DOCG Riserva appellation in Piedmont, Italy. Crafted by Vietti s.r.l., it is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the single MGA vineyard 'Rabajà'. This bottling signifies Vietti's re-engagement with this historic vineyard, which they previously vinified in the 1980s, making this an inaugural vintage of this specific Riserva. The Rabajà vineyard is situated in the Barbaresco commune, characterized by calcareous-clayey soil and south/south-west exposure. The average age of the vines is around 51 years. The 2019 vintage is noted for its intense red fruit, complexity, and refined tannins.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Vietti Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva 2019 is produced using 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Alcoholic fermentation occurs over about three weeks in steel tanks with extended skin contact, employing the traditional submerged cap method with regular pumping overs. Pre- and post-fermentation maceration are utilized. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in wood. The wine is then aged for approximately 30 months in large oak casks (25-50 hl). Grapes are hand-harvested, and farming practices are described as sustainable and organic/biological with minimal interventions.
