ABOUT THIS WINE
The Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva Giuseppe Cortese 2016 is a 100% Nebbiolo wine from the Barbaresco DOCG appellation in Piedmont, Italy. Produced by Az. Agricola Cortese, it originates from the esteemed Rabajà cru, a single vineyard of approximately 1 hectare with vines around 70 years old. The Giuseppe Cortese winery has a long-standing family tradition in viticulture, dating back three generations, with their own vinification beginning in 1971. WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva Giuseppe Cortese 2016 begins with a harvest in October. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel and old cement tanks at approximately 84°F (28°C) for about 35 days, with maceration lasting 20-25 days. Malolactic fermentation is also performed. The wine is then aged for 40 months in large Slavonian oak barrels ranging from new to 9 years old. Following barrel aging, a minimum of three years of bottle aging is undertaken before the wine's release.
