ABOUT THIS WINE
The Vietti Barbaresco Roncaglie 2020 is a single-vineyard expression from the highly regarded Roncaglie cru in the Barbaresco DOCG appellation of Piedmont, Italy. The name 'Roncaglie' itself hints at the vineyard's steep terrain, derived from the Latin 'roncaleis.' Vietti s.r.l., a winery with a four-generation history in the heart of the Barolo region, now owned by the Krause family, produces this wine from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The 2020 vintage is noted for its inherent austerity, indicating a wine that will evolve gracefully with age. The Roncaglie vineyard is situated at approximately 280 meters above sea level, with soils rich in limestone and clay and a south-west exposure, contributing to the wine's distinct character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Vietti Barbaresco Roncaglie 2020 begins with a rigorous manual harvest. Alcoholic fermentation occurs over three weeks in stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs, preceded by cold maceration and followed by submerged-cap maceration. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in wood. The wine then matures for approximately 30 months in large oak barrels (botti grandi). Technical analysis shows a total acidity of 6.07 g/l, residual sugar of 0.89 g/l, and a pH of 3.44.
