ABOUT THIS WINE
Mauro Veglio took over his father Angelo's estate in La Morra in 1986 at just 25 years old. Alongside his wife Daniela, Mauro became a pivotal figure in the revolutionary 'Barolo Boys' movement of the late 1980s and 1990s, which introduced modern winemaking techniques to Piedmont. In 2016, the estate merged with that of their winemaker nephew, Alessandro Veglio. Alessandro brought a more classic approach back to the winery, focusing on vertical steel tanks and dialing back oak influence to emphasize fruit purity. This Barbera d'Alba is crafted as their 'wine of the people' (il vino del popolo), representing a fresh, unwooded counterpart to their single-vineyard Barolos.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for this Barbera d'Alba are hand-harvested from late September to early October, primarily from the cooler exposures of the Cascina Nuova hill in La Morra and younger plots in Serralunga d'Alba. Vinification begins with a temperature-controlled skin maceration in stainless steel tanks for six to eight days. Alcoholic fermentation is completed over approximately 20 days, followed by full malolactic fermentation under controlled temperatures. The wine is aged exclusively in stainless steel tanks for eight to ten months to preserve its vibrant fruit character. It is decanted naturally in steel and bottled in the summer without any fining or filtration.
