ABOUT THIS WINE
The Fontanabianca Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2021 is a 100% Barbera from the Piedmont region of Italy, specifically the Alba area. The Fontanabianca winery, situated in Neive, is a family-run operation with a philosophy focused on preserving the natural taste of the grapes. The estate's name, 'white fountain,' originates from a natural spring on its grounds. Winemaker Matteo Pola continues the family tradition, aiming to express the unique character of the Neive territory in his wines. The vines used for this wine are between 10 and 30 years old, grown on limestone and sandy soils on easterly-facing hillsides.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Fontanabianca Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2021 is produced from vines aged between 10 and 30 years. Following harvest, the grapes undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged for several months in French oak barrels, including both large oak casks and smaller barriques. This aging period meets the minimum requirements for Barbera d'Alba DOC Superiore, which mandates at least 12 months of aging, with at least 4 months in barrels. Fontanabianca employs environmentally friendly viticultural practices, having ceased the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilizers.
