ABOUT THIS WINE
Founded in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno, Giacomo Borgogno & Figli is one of the oldest continuously operating wineries in Barolo, Piedmont. Its historic cellars were selected to supply the wine served at the official dinner celebrating the Unification of Italy in 1861. Managed under certified organic viticulture, the winery sources grapes for this bottling from high-altitude vineyards in the Madonna di Como and Bricco Bompè areas of Alba. The Superiore classification requires lower vineyard yields and an extended maturation period compared to standard Barbera d'Alba.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Grapes are hand-harvested in small crates from certified organic plots planted on calcareous and clayey marl mixed with sand. Fermentation occurs spontaneously using wild yeasts in traditional large concrete vats over 10 to 12 days at controlled temperatures. Following gentle pneumatic pressing, the wine ages for 10 months in large Slavonian oak casks (botti grandi), followed by a minimum of 3 to 4 months of bottle refinement prior to commercial release.
