ABOUT THIS WINE
Barolo Bricco Fiasco from Azelia is a 100% Nebbiolo wine from the Bricco Fiasco vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, Piedmont. This single-cru bottling originates from vines planted in 1939, situated on white calcareous soils with a significant sand component. The vineyard's shape inspired its name, 'Fiasco', meaning flask in the local dialect. Azelia, a family estate since 1920, follows a philosophy of minimal intervention, believing wine is made in the vineyard. The Bricco Fiasco cru has been vinified separately since 1978, highlighting its unique vineyard characteristics. The 2019 vintage is noted for its brightness and intensity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Azelia's Barolo Bricco Fiasco is produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The winemaking process involves fermentation and maceration on the skins for 55-60 days using indigenous yeasts and the submerged cap method at around 31°C. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 24 months in large oak barrels (25-50HL) of Slavonian, French, and Austrian origin. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted. The estate practices organic viticulture, avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and employs green harvesting. The Bricco Fiasco vineyard has been vinified separately since 1978.
