ABOUT THIS WINE
The Barolo Cerretta 2019 is a single-cru wine from Azelia, a fifth-generation family winery founded in 1920. It originates from the Cerretta vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, Piedmont, a region celebrated for its Nebbiolo wines. This specific bottling highlights the unique characteristics of the Cerretta cru, with Azelia having patiently cultivated the vines for decades before its separate vinification began in 2016. The 2019 vintage in Piedmont was marked by a warm, dry season, contributing to the wine's ripe fruit and structure.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Barolo Cerretta begins with hand-harvested Nebbiolo grapes, which are de-stemmed and lightly crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel or concrete tanks using indigenous yeasts, followed by an extended maceration period of 40 to 60 days. The wine is then aged for 30 months in large oak casks (botti grandi), with minimal new oak usage. Following barrel aging, it rests in bottle for an additional 12 months before release. Azelia practices organic farming with integrated pest management and minimal treatments.
