ABOUT THIS WINE
Damilano's Barolo Lecinquevigne is a tribute to the traditional Piedmontese art of assemblage. While single-vineyard Cru expressions dominate modern marketing, this wine blends Nebbiolo grapes from five distinct, elevated vineyard plots across the prestigious municipalities of Barolo, Grinzane Cavour, and Monforte. This historic approach offers a harmonious, multi-faceted representation of the region's unique calcareous-clay soils. The Damilano estate, founded in 1890 by Giuseppe Borgogno and managed today by his grandchildren, is globally recognized for crafting classic, age-worthy Barolos that balance power with elegance.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Lecinquevigne respects classic Piedmontese traditions. Grapes are hand-harvested in October and undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 15 days at 28°C. This is followed by an extended 10-day skin maceration to extract structural tannins and color. The wine is then aged for 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks (botte) ranging from 20 to 100 hectoliters, which allows for slow, micro-oxygenation without overpowering the delicate Nebbiolo fruit. Finally, the wine matures for an additional 12 months in the bottle before commercial release.
