ABOUT THIS WINE
Barolo Noi Virna Borgogno is a 100% Nebbiolo from the Barolo DOCG appellation in Piedmont, Italy. The wine is a blend of fruit from vineyards in San Giovanni (Monforte d'Alba), Berri, and Boiolo (La Morra). The name 'Noi' translates to 'us,' signifying a collective approach to winemaking. Az. Agr. Virna di Borgogno is led by Virna Borgogno, who inherited vineyards from a family with a winemaking history dating back to 1720. The estate focuses on producing wines that balance elegance and power, drawing from the distinct characteristics of its vineyard sites. The 2019 vintage benefited from a favorable growing season, with a cool spring and warm summer contributing to optimal grape maturation.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Barolo Noi Virna Borgogno begins with hand-harvested Nebbiolo grapes. Maceration with skins lasts for approximately 10-12 days at controlled temperatures not exceeding 29-31°C, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine then undergoes aging in large oak casks (botti grandi) for about 18 to 24 months. Some sources indicate a portion of used barrique may also be employed in the aging process.
