ABOUT THIS WINE
The Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe 2017 is a single-vineyard expression from Cavallotto, a family winery with a legacy dating back to 1928. Situated in Castiglione Falletto within the Barolo DOCG of Piedmont, this wine comes from the highly regarded Vigna San Giuseppe parcel of the Bricco Boschis cru. The vineyard benefits from an altitude of 300-360 meters and a soil composition of limestone, clay, sand, and sandstone. Cavallotto is recognized for its commitment to traditional winemaking and was an early adopter of organic viticulture. The 2017 vintage, influenced by a warmer growing season, is noted for yielding more accessible fruit while maintaining the wine's inherent structure and depth.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe 2017 begins with a maceration period of 18 to 30 days, with 28 days of skin contact, utilizing indigenous yeasts and controlled fermentation temperatures of 29°C in horizontal and stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks in the spring following the harvest. The wine is then aged for 4 to 5 years in large Slavonian oak barrels (botti), followed by one year of bottle aging before its release. The vineyard practices are certified organic.
