ABOUT THIS WINE
The Baron de Chirel Verdejo 2018 is a white wine from Marqués de Riscal, crafted from 100% Verdejo grapes. The fruit originates from pre-phylloxera vines, over 100 years old, situated in Aldeanueva del Codonal and Aldehuela in the province of Segovia, Castilla y León. These ungrafted, bush-pruned vines grow at altitudes of 850-900 meters on granite and sandy soils. Marqués de Riscal, established in 1858, is a pioneering winery in Spain, recognized for its commitment to preserving heritage vines and its innovative approach to winemaking. The wine's distinctiveness lies in its use of ancient vines and its aging process, which contributes to its complexity and potential for development.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Baron de Chirel Verdejo 2018 is produced from 100% Verdejo grapes sourced from ancient, ungrafted vines. The harvest is conducted by hand, with fruit carefully selected. Vinification involves using only the first must. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels and large vats. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for six months on its fine lees with batonnage, utilizing both French oak barrels of various sizes and 3000-liter vats. The vineyards from which the grapes are sourced have been certified organic since 2018.
