ABOUT THIS WINE
The Herzog winemaking legacy spans nine generations, tracing its roots back to 19th-century Slovakia. The family patriarch, Philip Herzog, crafted wines so celebrated by the Austro-Hungarian court that Emperor Franz-Josef bestowed upon him the royal title of Baron. Following World War II, the family relocated to New York, eventually expanding their operations to California in 1985. Today, Baron Herzog represents a bridge between historic European heritage and modern Californian viticulture, producing accessible, high-quality kosher wines from select coastal and valley vineyards.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Grapes are harvested during the cool night and early morning hours to preserve delicate primary aromatics and prevent oxidation. Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit is gently de-stemmed and pressed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to maintain fresh fruit purity. To meet strict Mevushal kosher standards, the wine undergoes flash pasteurization. It is aged briefly in stainless steel without any oak contact to preserve its crisp, clean profile before bottling.
