ABOUT THIS WINE
The Beaune Premier Cru Clos du Roi from Domaine Marchand-Tawse is a 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy, France. It originates from the historic 'Clos du Roi' vineyard, situated at the northern edge of the Beaune appellation, known for its stony, sandy, and filtering soils. This vineyard has a historical connection to the Dukes of Burgundy and French kings. Domaine Marchand-Tawse cultivates its vines here using biodynamic practices. The 2022 vintage experienced a hot summer, with late August thunderstorms contributing to the ripeness of the grapes.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the Beaune Premier Cru Clos du Roi involves hand-harvested grapes. Fermentation is conducted traditionally in open vats, with 10-15% whole bunch inclusion. A full malolactic fermentation is carried out. The wine then undergoes aging for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, with 35% of these being new. Some sources indicate aging may also occur in stainless steel.
