ABOUT THIS WINE
Berberana Gran Tradición Cava Semi-Seco is a sparkling white wine from the Cava DO in Spain, produced by Marques de la Concordia Family of Wines. The wine is a Non-Vintage (NV) blend, a common practice for Cava to ensure a consistent style. Berberana itself has a long history, dating back to 1877 in La Rioja, while Marques de la Concordia seeks to combine traditional winemaking with modern approaches. The grapes are sourced from the Penedès region, a key area for Cava production. A distinctive aspect of this wine is its 'Semi-Seco' designation, indicating a noticeable sweetness, which sets it apart from drier sparkling wines and broadens its pairing potential.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Berberana Gran Tradición Cava Semi-Seco is produced using the traditional Cava method, also known as méthode traditionnelle or champenoise. This involves a primary fermentation followed by a secondary fermentation that takes place directly in the bottle. The wine then ages on its lees for a minimum of 9-12 months, and typically around 15 months before it is released. This extended contact with the lees contributes to the wine's texture and complexity. The grapes are sourced from the Penedès region, known for its clay, granite, and calcareous soils, which are well-suited for Cava varietals.
