ABOUT THIS WINE
The Mélanie Pfister Berg Riesling 2023 is a 100% Riesling from the Alsace AOC in France. The grapes are cultivated on four small plots in the northern part of Alsace, known for its cool climate and windy conditions. The vineyard soils are a mix of clay and limestone, specifically 'Muschelkalk,' which influences the wine's structure and finesse. The estate, Domaine Mélanie Pfister, has a winemaking tradition dating back to 1780, with the current generation, Mélanie Pfister, leading the estate since 2006. The estate has held organic farming certification since 2021 and is also Fair'N Green certified for sustainable production.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Mélanie Pfister Berg Riesling undergoes a gentle winemaking process. Fermentation is often initiated with indigenous yeasts, though cultured yeasts may be used in challenging years, and the wine is fermented dry. Following fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees for 18 months in steel tanks. Minimal sulfur is added before bottling. The estate prioritizes minimal intervention techniques to allow the purity of the fruit and terroir to shine through.
