ABOUT THIS WINE
Bico Amarelo, meaning 'Yellow Beak', is named after the lively, colorful birds that inhabit the lush vineyards of Northern Portugal. Produced by the historic Quinta do Ameal estate, which dates back to 1710 and was acquired by the sustainable winemaking group Esporão in 2019, this wine represents a modern, terroir-driven approach to Vinho Verde. Crafted by winemakers José Luís Moreira da Silva and Mafalda Magalhães, it is intentionally made entirely dry and non-carbonated to showcase the true potential and pure characteristics of the region's native grape varieties.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested and sourced from select terroirs across Vinho Verde: Loureiro from the cool Lima River sub-region, Alvarinho from Monção and Melgaço, and Avesso from Baião. After whole-cluster pneumatic pressing and 24 hours of cold decanting, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats at 14–16ºC. The wine is aged entirely on its fine lees (sur lie) with regular bâtonnage in stainless steel to build texture and complexity without any oak contact.
