ABOUT THIS WINE
The Marcalberto Blancdeblancs Metodo Classico Alta Langa 2018 is a white sparkling wine from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from 100% Chardonnay grapes. It is produced under the Alta Langa DOCG appellation. Azienda Agricola Marcalberto, a family-run estate, is dedicated solely to Metodo Classico sparkling wines, with a philosophy centered on expressing the unique Alta Langa terroir. The vineyards are located in communes like Cossano Belbo and Loazzolo, at elevations ranging from 480 to 600 meters, on soils described as 'white ground,' marly, and chalky. The wine is made in a 'Pas Dosé' style, meaning it has no added sugar after disgorgement, to highlight the wine's inherent character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Marcalberto Blancdeblancs Metodo Classico Alta Langa 2018 begins with soft, whole-bunch pressing of 100% Chardonnay grapes. Alcoholic fermentation occurs partially in steel tanks and partially in used French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for approximately 8 months in old large barrels with weekly bâtonnage, remaining unfiltered and unclarified. Following bottling, it undergoes a minimum of 30 months of aging on lees. The wine is finished in a 'Pas Dosé' style, meaning no sugar is added after disgorgement.
