ABOUT THIS WINE
Boca Castello Conti 'Il Rosso delle Donne' 2007 is a red wine from the Boca DOC in Piedmont, Italy. Produced by Cantine del Castello Conti, it is a field blend primarily composed of Nebbiolo, with smaller amounts of Vespolina and Uva Rara. The Conti sisters, representing the second generation of winemakers, manage the estate, continuing their family's tradition of reviving old vineyards and employing low-intervention winemaking. The Boca appellation is one of the smallest in Alto Piemonte, known for its distinctive volcanic porphyry soils. The 2007 vintage benefited from a favorable growing season in Piedmont, with a dry winter and a warm spring.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Boca Castello Conti 'Il Rosso delle Donne' 2007 is produced using a field blend of Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Uva Rara. The grapes are vinified separately before blending. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and open-top tini, with a cuvaison lasting 20-23 days and manual punchdowns. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for three years in Slavonian oak botti of various sizes. Minimal sulfur is added, primarily at racking and bottling, and the wine is unfined and plate-filtered. The harvest is conducted entirely by hand in early October.
