ABOUT THIS WINE
Böjt Pincészet was established in 1993 by László and Éva Böjt on just three hectares in Eger, Hungary. Today, the estate spans up to 16 hectares and is passionately managed by their children, Gergő and Boglárka. Egri Bikavér, historically known as Bull's Blood, is Hungary's most famous red blend. While the name suffered from mass production in the late 20th century, modern artisan estates like Böjt have completely revitalized the category. This Kékfrankos-driven blend acts as a pristine translator of the high-altitude, volcanic terroir of the Kutyahegy vineyard in Ostoros.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested in small crates from vineyards managed with organic farming practices. Following a manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed and fermented under controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Winemaker Gergő Böjt utilizes a highly distinctive technique in Eger: he blends the grape varieties prior to barrel aging (co-maturation) rather than maturing them separately. The assembled blend is then aged for 24 months in 225-liter and 300-liter Hungarian oak barrels, followed by an additional 6 months of bottle aging before release.
