ABOUT THIS WINE
The Brda Cru Selection Rebula from Marjan Simčič Domaine is a white wine from Goriška Brda, Slovenia, made from 100% Rebula grapes. The 'Cru Selection' signifies a careful choice of vineyards, featuring vines aged between 20 and 60 years. These vineyards are situated on steep, northwest-facing slopes at approximately 250 meters above sea level. The region of Goriška Brda is known for its long history with the Rebula grape, dating back almost 800 years. Marjan Simčič Domaine, a fifth-generation winery, adheres to biodynamic farming principles, emphasizing a connection with nature. The wine's complexity is attributed to the unique microclimates and soils of its selected vineyard sites.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Brda Cru Selection Rebula is produced using spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, which lasts for about four days and includes a period of skin maceration in large, 4,000-liter conical oak vats. Following fermentation, the wine is pressed using a pneumatic press. The wine then matures for eighteen months on its lees in 2,500-liter conical oak vats. An additional four months are spent aging in the bottle. The vineyards are farmed according to biodynamic principles, and yields are kept low, around 30 hl/ha, to ensure grape quality. The vines used for this selection are over 50 years old.
