ABOUT THIS WINE
Fontanafredda was founded in 1878 in Serralunga d'Alba by Count Emanuele Guerrieri di Mirafiore, son of King Vittorio Emanuele II and Rosa Vercellana. Spanning over 100 hectares of organic vineyards, Fontanafredda is a historic standard-bearer of Piedmontese viticulture. The name Briccotondo combines 'Bricco', the hilltop crest deeply tied to the Piedmontese landscape, and 'Tondo', meaning round and capturing smooth conviviality, created to offer an approachable, food-friendly expression of Piedmontese terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Grapes are harvested from mid-elevation hill vineyards between 200 and 400 meters above sea level. Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit is destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 23–26°C with daily pumping over for 6–8 days to optimize color and soft tannin extraction. After malolactic fermentation completes, the wine ages for 5 months, partially in small French oak barriques and partially in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by light fining and spring bottling.
