ABOUT THIS WINE
The Briccotondo Barbera Piemonte DOC is a red wine from the Piedmont region of Italy, produced by Fontanafredda. The estate boasts a rich history dating back to 1858, founded by King Vittorio Emanuele II. Fontanafredda is dedicated to sustainable and organic farming, placing the land at the core of its operations. This Barbera is cultivated on the slopes of the Langhe hills, benefiting from calcareous, sand-rich marly soils at an average altitude of 250-300 meters above sea level. The wine represents a connection to both the historical legacy of the estate and the unique terroir of its origin.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Briccotondo Barbera is produced from hand-harvested grapes grown on Fontanafredda's vineyards. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks for 7-8 days at temperatures between 28-30°C, with regular pumping over for extraction. Following fermentation, malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks. The wine is then aged for nine months, with a portion maturing in new Allier oak barrels and the remainder in large Slavonian oak casks before bottling.
