ABOUT THIS WINE
Established in the early 1970s, Altesino is a benchmark estate located in the northern hills of Montalcino, Tuscany. Under the visionary leadership of Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, the estate has earned a reputation as a forward-thinking pioneer in the region. Altesino famously introduced the single-vineyard 'Cru' concept to Montalcino with its legendary Montosoli bottling in 1975 and was among the first to experiment with French oak barriques. The 2013 vintage is highly celebrated by purists as a classic, cooler growing season that allowed for slow, even ripening, resulting in a wine of exceptional structural elegance, poise, and longevity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for this Brunello are hand-harvested in early October from the estate's top-performing vineyards, including Altesino, Macina, Pianezzine, and Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel and fiberglass tanks, with maceration lasting 15 to 20 days at 28–32°C to extract optimal color and structure. Following a fully completed malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for a minimum of two years (24 months) in traditional, large Slavonian oak casks (botti). It then undergoes an additional four to six months of refinement in the bottle before commercial release.
