ABOUT THIS WINE

This wine is a testament to the producer's commitment to quality and innovation within the traditional framework of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Altesino has a history of innovation, being the first to introduce the 'Cru' concept with its Montosoli Brunello and the first to experiment with small French oak barriques for aging. The estate is housed in a 14th-century palazzo. Founded in the early 1970s, Altesino was acquired by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini in 2002. The 2019 vintage is noted for its balance, elegance, and complexity, showcasing the unique characteristics of its vineyard sites.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Altesino Brunello di Montalcino 2019 is produced from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes, hand-harvested from vineyards on the eastern hills of Montalcino. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks over 15-20 days, incorporating cold soak maceration, racking, pumpovers, and aeration. The wine is then aged for 36-42 months in traditional Slavonian casks of varying ages, followed by 6 months of bottle aging. Altesino is known for its innovative approach, including introducing the 'Cru' concept and experimenting with French oak barriques.
