ABOUT THIS WINE
Ca' di Press Barbera d'Alba 2021 is a red wine from the Barbera d'Alba DOC appellation in Piedmont, Italy. Produced by Ca' di Press, a family-run estate, the wine is primarily made from Barbera grapes with a potential addition of Nebbiolo. The name 'Ca' di Press' refers to the owner's family name, 'Pressenda'. The current winemaking is overseen by sisters Alice and Cristina, with guidance from their father Bruno. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes a hands-off approach. The vineyards are situated in Alba, characterized by marine sedimentary soils of calcareous clay marl with alternating layers of sand and sandstone, benefiting from southwest and southeast exposures. Farming practices are organic, though not certified. The 2021 vintage is noted for its bright acidity and pure fruit expression.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Ca' di Press Barbera d'Alba 2021 is produced from de-stemmed fruit. Fermentation is carried out naturally over 20 days in stainless steel tanks, without the addition of yeasts. Following fermentation, the wine matures for 9 months in stainless steel tanks. It then undergoes a further 10 months of aging in the bottle. The producer employs organic farming practices, although they are not officially certified. The overall winemaking approach is characterized by a philosophy of minimal intervention, aiming to allow the natural expression of the grape and its origin.
