ABOUT THIS WINE
Le Fraghe Camporengo Garganega is a single-varietal white wine from the Veneto IGT, produced by Le Fraghe in the Bardolino commune. The estate's name, 'Le Fraghe,' refers to wild strawberries found among the vines. Owner and winemaker Matilde Poggi, who took over the family vineyards, is a prominent figure in Italian independent winemaking. The winery's location between Lake Garda and Valpolicella places it in a region with a unique terroir influenced by glacial activity. The 2021 vintage reflects a year of varied global weather patterns, with many Italian regions producing wines of notable balance.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Le Fraghe Camporengo Garganega is produced from 100% Garganega grapes. The winemaking process begins with whole clusters being pressed without destemming, yielding 55% free-run must. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 17°C using native yeasts. Twenty percent of the must undergoes malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for eight months on its fine lees in 50hl stainless steel tanks before bottling. The grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards with an average age of 16 years, situated at 190 meters elevation on south-facing slopes with glacial schist, volcanic, and limestone-rich soils.
