ABOUT THIS WINE
Caneco, meaning 'clay jar' in Galician, is a tribute to family winemaking traditions, though produced in stainless steel to preserve the Albariño grape's freshness. Narupa Vinos, founded in 2013 by four friends, aims to create Albariño wines that reflect the unique identity of the Val do Salnés region and possess the capacity for aging. Located in Val do Salnés, the coolest sub-region of Rías Baixas, the wine benefits from the Atlantic's influence, contributing to its distinctive character. WINE MAKING PROCESS
Grapes for Caneco are sourced from Narupa Vinos' estate vineyards in Barrantes, characterized by loam and decomposed granite soils. Viticulture is described as 'rational,' employing biological treatments and zero-residue sanitary applications to manage mildew. The harvest is manual. In the cellar, the process involves crushing the grapes followed by a short cold maceration. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks using native yeasts at controlled temperatures. The wine then undergoes aging on its lees in stainless steel for about 9-10 months, contributing to its texture and complexity.
