ABOUT THIS WINE
The Cape of Good Hope Laing Semillon 2020 is a single-varietal wine from Anthonij Rupert Wines, produced from old bush vines planted in 1956 on Henk Laing's farm, Trekpoort, on the Skurfberg Mountain in the Citrusdal region of the Western Cape. This area's climate, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, contributes to the grapes' ripeness and acidity. The vines grow in red sand and clay soils amidst indigenous flora. The 2020 vintage received significant acclaim, including Semillon of the Year and a 5-star rating from Platter's South African Wine Guide. The Cape of Good Hope range is dedicated to showcasing site-specific wines from old vines and unique terroirs.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the Cape of Good Hope Laing Semillon 2020 begins with whole-bunch pressing of the Semillon grapes. The resulting juice is then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for six months in neutral, large French oak barrels. This method is employed to preserve the integrity of the fruit and develop a balanced, complex profile.
