ABOUT THIS WINE
Caprice du Chameau is crafted by Géraldine and Méryl Crozier of La Vrille et le Papillon, an estate located in the historic village of Valvignères in the Ardèche region of the Rhône Valley. The estate's name, meaning 'The Tendril and the Butterfly,' reflects their commitment to biodiversity and organic farming. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils and benefit from a windy Mediterranean climate, where the Mistral wind helps maintain freshness and grape health. This cuvée represents a modern, vibrant expression of the region's white grapes, balancing rich textures with a distinct mineral drive.

INTERESTING FACTS
Fact 01
Valvignères, where the vines grow, historically translates to 'Vallis Vinaria' or the Valley of Wine Cellars.
Fact 02
The 2021 vintage was co-fermented with Grenache Blanc due to a severe hail storm that destroyed much of the Viognier crop.
Fact 03
The estate's vineyards are balanced by parcels on opposite sides of the valley, catching both morning and afternoon sun.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are 100% hand-harvested from certified organic vineyards. In the cellar, the winemaking is highly hands-off, utilizing only indigenous yeasts for fermentation. The grapes undergo whole-cluster direct pressing, though certain vintages like 2021 receive overnight skin maceration prior to pressing. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve fresh fruit characteristics. The wine is then racked and aged on its fine lees in stainless steel for eight months. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with zero added sulfur dioxide (SO2) or other additives.
