ABOUT THIS WINE
The Quarisa Wines Caravan Durif 2021 is a full-bodied red wine from South Eastern Australia, showcasing the Durif grape. Founded by John and Josephine Quarisa, Quarisa Wines operates under the philosophy of 'passion is everything,' with John Quarisa being an award-winning winemaker. The South Eastern Australia region provides favorable conditions for Durif to ripen fully, contributing to the wine's character. The 2021 vintage benefited from ideal growing conditions, leading to high sugar content and concentrated flavors in the grapes. The 'Caravan' name suggests a journey of exploration. The Durif grape itself has a unique origin, stemming from a cross-pollination discovered by French botanist François Durif.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The production of Caravan Durif 2021 involves soft pressing of the grapes, followed by fermentation in steel tanks under strict temperature control. Various fermentation vessels are utilized to enhance color and aroma extraction. A portion of the wine undergoes fermentation in oak barrels. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, with some maturation occurring in American and French oak for around ten months. Grapes are harvested at peak ripeness to ensure optimal sugar and flavor development.
