ABOUT THIS WINE
Drappier Carte d'Or Brut is a non-vintage Champagne from the Drappier estate, a family-run producer with a history dating back to 1808. The wine is primarily made from Pinot Noir, with significant contributions from Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, reflecting the estate's focus on this dominant grape. The vineyards are situated in Urville, within the Côte des Bar region of Champagne, characterized by Kimmeridgian limestone soils. The Carte d'Or cuvée has been a cornerstone of the Drappier portfolio since 1952 and is known for its expression of the Drappier style, often described as being close to a Blanc de Noirs due to its high Pinot Noir content. The estate is recognized for its commitment to sustainable practices, including being a carbon-neutral producer.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Drappier Carte d'Or Brut is produced using the first pressing juices, known as the Cuvée. Fermentation is conducted by gravity, and the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. A small portion of the base wine, approximately 5%, is aged in oak barrels for one year. The blend includes around 40% reserve wines, some of which are over 20 years old. The wine is aged on its lees for 2-3 years before release, and minimal sulfur is used, with the wine often being unfiltered. The estate emphasizes sustainable and organic viticulture, with some vineyard parcels worked by draught horses, and holds Carbon Neutral accreditation.
