ABOUT THIS WINE
Casanuova di Nittardi Vigna Doghessa is a single-vineyard Chianti Classico produced in Castellina in Chianti by Fattoria Nittardi. The estate dates back to 1183, when it was originally known as Nectar Dei. In the 16th century, the property was owned by the legendary Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti. Today, owned by the Femfert-Canali family, Nittardi maintains its rich cultural heritage by commissioning a different renowned artist each year to create a custom label and wrapping paper. For the 2024 vintage, American artist Amy Ernst designed the 44th edition of this artistic collection.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Harvested entirely by hand from the organic Vigna Doghessa vineyard, which sits at 450 meters elevation on Galestro and Alberese soils. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats using indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for 14 months in 500-liter French oak casks (10% new), followed by 4 months in concrete tanks and further aging in bottle prior to release, crafted in collaboration with consultant winemaker Carlo Ferrini.
