ABOUT THIS WINE
Tenuta CastelGiocondo is an ancient estate in Montalcino, Tuscany, with roots dating back to AD 1100 when it served as a medieval fortress. It was one of the first four estates to pioneer Brunello production in the 1800s. Although currently owned by the Marchesi de' Frescobaldi family, who purchased the estate in 1989, the legendary 1985 vintage was crafted under previous ownership. However, Vittorio Frescobaldi served as the estate's agronomist during this period, ensuring viticultural excellence. The 1985 vintage is highly celebrated in Tuscany, marked by a historic winter freeze followed by an exceptionally warm, dry summer that yielded concentrated, structurally balanced grapes.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for this vintage were harvested entirely by hand from southwest-facing vineyards situated at altitudes between 300 and 400 meters. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with frequent pumping over to optimize color and tannin extraction from the Sangiovese skins. In accordance with the strict DOCG regulations of the era, the wine underwent an extensive aging process, maturing for a minimum of four years before release. This included at least two to three years in traditional large Slavonian oak casks, with a small portion aged in French oak barrels, followed by significant bottle aging.
